Gateway Safety Services Ltd. offers professional Class 1, 2, and 3 truck driver training in our Lethbridge and Taber facilities, which are Alberta Transportation-approved for both testing and training. Our Alberta Transportation-approved instructors have over 65 years of combined driving experience to provide safe, reliable instruction to prepare you for obtaining your truck driving license.
For truck driver training in Lethbridge, the Mandatory Entry Level Training (MELT) program for all Class 1 or 2 commercial drivers comes into effect March 1, 2019. Will consist of in-classroom, in-vehicle (in-yard where the vehicle is not moving) and on-road training.
If you obtain your Class 1 or 2 license between the dates of October 10, 2018 to February 28, 2019 you will be required to retake the enhanced knowledge test and the road test anytime between March 1, 2019 and March 1, 2020. You will be allowed two (2) attempts to pass these tests. The government will pay for the 1st attempt (knowledge & road) the 2nd attempt will be at your expense. Should you fail twice, your Class 1 or 2 license you will be converted to the class of license you held before and you will be required to take the MELT program to obtain the Class 1 or 2 license.
Anyone wishing to take one of our existing Class 1 or 3 training packages or by the hour training must be completed before February 28, 2019. If not completed before this date you will have to take the MELT program to obtain your license.
It is advised that any package training be registered before January 31, 2019 to ensure completion by the February 28, 2019 deadline.
